Lupton Community Orchard, nr Brixham

A lovely, old orchard with places to meet

Lupton Community Orchard is in the grounds of Lupton House, near Brixham. Lupton House has a rich history and has historically been used for many purposes, including a school. Currently, the estate is run by the Lupton Trust as a community venue.

Within its grounds are two generous, mature orchards that are well maintained by a few volunteers. More volunteers are needed at Lupton and existing ones are working to improve access to the site (which is away from the main amenities of the house), maintain the trees and gather the crop. Most years they send around five tons to a local cider maker.

Alongside the many apple trees is a shelter, storage and several meeting places. It would be lovely to see it being more used along with some extra help, although a great job is being done in these beautiful older orchards.
